HOW CAN OUR PRAYERS BE MORE PLEASING TO OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN? A fresh look at our Master’s prayer …

  1. By taking seriously the fact that He is our Father in heaven ("Our Father who is in the heavens…")
  2. Mat 23:9 "And do not call anyone on earth your father, for One is your Father, He who is in the heavens.

  3. By caring about those matters that relate to the set-apartness of his Name ("Let Your Name be set-apart…")
  4. Joh 12:28 "Father, esteem Your Name." Then a voice came from the heaven, "I have both esteemed it and shall esteem it again."

  5. By making a clear distinction between the concerns of this world and the coming Kingdom ("Let Your kingdom come…")
  6. Mat 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Master, Master,’ shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he who is doing the desire of My Father in the heavens.

  7. By putting the doing of his will above anything else – especially above our own selfish interests ("Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven…")
  8. Mat 12:50 "For whoever does the will of My Father who is in the heavens is My brother and sister and mother."

  9. By recognizing that He is our only Provider and Source of living ("Give us today our daily bread…")
  10. Mat 6:26 "Look at the birds of the heaven, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into store-houses, yet your heavenly Father does feed them. Are you not worth more than they?

  11. By relying on the principle of forgiveness to restore our relationship with Him ("Forgive us our tresspasses, as we forgive those who tresspass against us…")
  12. Mar 11:25 "And whenever you stand praying, if you hold whatever against anyone, forgive, so that your Father in the heavens shall also forgive you your trespasses.

  13. By trusting Him to deliver us from the snares of the evil one ("Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one…")

Luk 10:19-21 See, I give you the authority to trample on serpents … and over all the power of the enemy, and none at all shall hurt you. But do not rejoice in this … but rather rejoice because your names have been written in the heavens … I praise You, Father, Master of the heaven and of the earth, that You have hidden these matters from clever and learned ones, and did reveal them to babes."
