LIFE IN ABUNDANCE

Since the time when Yahweh began his involvement with Yisrael as a nation, He has indicated to them that He wanted to make them recipients of his abundance. As the Almighty one and the Creator of heaven and earth, He showed them from the beginning that He had unlimited resources and unrestricted power and that it was his desire to bestow upon them the richness and the fulness of his heavenly blessings – if they would only take heed of his words and obey his comumandments. Just listen to this: Do not be afraid, Avram. I am your shield, your reward is exceedingly great (Bereshit 15:1); I am going to increase your seed greatly, too numerous to be counted (Bereshit 16:10); I shall greatly increase you (Bereshit 17:2); I shall certainly bless you, and I shall certainly increase your seed (Bereshit 22:17); I shall turn to you and make you bear fruit, and shall increase you (Wayyikra / Lev 26:9); He shall love you and bless you and increase you, and shall bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land (Devarim / Deut 7:13); And He shall do good to you, and increase you more than your fathers (Devarim / Deut 30:5).

Throughout Scriptures this abundance takes on various forms and is sometimes revealed in surprising and unexpected ways. But the bottomline remains: Abundance is something that Yahweh desires for, and bestows upon, those who call upon his Name and take seriously his words. Let us look at some of the more surprizing ways in which Yahweh, our heavenly Father has already bestowed his abundance upon us, according to the testimony of the Messianic (New Covenant) Scriptures. For us to be able to fully enjoy the richness and blessing of all these different forms of abundance, it may be necessary to take a deliberate step of faith, change our own limited perspective and start looking at our world the way Yahweh wants us to.

  1. The more we open our eyes and ears for the hidden truths of Yahweh’s Word, the more we will experience abundance in the sense of increased knowledge, contentment and inner peace.
  2. Mat 13:11 And He answering, said to them, "Because it has been given to you to know the secrets of the reign of the heavens, but to them it has not been given.

Mat 13:12 "For whoever possesses, to him more shall be given, and he shall have overflowingly; but whoever does not possess, even what he possesses shall be taken away from him.

  3. Accepting Y'shua as Shepherd and Master of one’s life, brings with it the reward of life in abundance, despite the destructive schemes of the enemy to take away the very gifts that Yahweh has given.
  4. Joh 10:10 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to slaughter, and to destroy. I have come that they might possess life, and that they might possess it beyond measure.

  5. It is Yahweh’s will that by being part of the body of Messiah, even the insignificant and weak members are covered with honour and respect in abundance.
  6. 1Co 12:23 And to those of the body which we think to be less respected, these we present greater respect. And our unseemly members have greater seemliness,

1Co 12:24 whereas our seemly members have no need. But Elohim blended together the body, having given greater respect to that member which lacks it,

  7. When we experience drawbacks and suffer abundantly for the sake of the Messiah, we become part of an elite group of people who qualify to receive comfort in abundance.
  8. 2Co 1:5 Because, as the sufferings of Messiah overflow in us, so our comfort also overflows through Messiah.

  9. With his immeasurable power Yahweh is able to bless us in abundance – more than what we can ask or think. For this we should always esteem and honour Him.
  10. Eph 3:20 And to Him who is able to do exceedingly above what we ask or think, according to the power that is working in us,

Eph 3:21 to Him be esteem in the assembly by Messiah Y'shua unto all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.

  11. It is not enough to be merely rooted and founded in the true belief. The effects of this belief should surface in abundance through a consistent attitude of thankfulness.
  12. Col 2:7 having been rooted and built up in Him, and established in the belief, as you were taught, overflowing in it with thanksgiving.

  13. True set-apartness, founded on the abundance that we have received and are yet to receive, requires of us not only to walk along the path of truth and please Yahweh, but to do so in abundance.

1Th 4:1 For the rest then, brothers, we beg you and call upon you in the Master Y'shua, that as you received from us how you should walk and to please Elohim, you should excel still more,

1Th 4:2 for you know what commands we gave you through the Master Y'shua.

1Th 4:3 For this is the desire of Elohim: your set-apartness!

Someone once said: "I keep the telephone of my mind open to peace, harmony, health, love and abundance. Then whenever doubt, anxiety, or fear try to call me, they keep getting a busy signal and soon they'll forget my number." Although this quote was not a reference to Scriptures in the first place, it reflects a sound Scriptural principle. Shaul writes about it to the Philippians (4:7-9):

Php 4:7 And the peace of Elohim, which surpasses all understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds through Messiah Y'shua.

Php 4:8 For the rest, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is righteous, whatever is clean, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report, if there is any uprightness and if there is any praise – think on these.

Php 4:9 And what you have learned and received and heard and saw in me, practise these, and the Elohim of peace shall be with you.

May our minds and our words and our actions be saturated with the abundance that we have received from the hand of Yahweh – to such an extend that the tireless efforts of the Enemy to dishearten and to distract and to destroy, will have no effect on our lives.
