THE SYMBOLISM OF BREAD
Bread for two days. Shemot / Ex 16:29 See, because Yahweh has given you the Sabbath, therefore He is giving you bread for two days on the sixth day.
Bread by Yahweh’s favour. Shemot / Ex 23:25 And you shall serve Yahweh your Elohim, and He shall bless your bread and your water. And I shall remove sickness from your midst.
Bread in the form of words. Devarim / Deu 8:3 "And He humbled you, and let you suffer hunger … to make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but by every Word that comes from the mouth of Yahweh. Amo 8:11 "See, days are coming," declares the Master Yahweh, "that I shall send a hunger in the land, not a hunger for bread, nor a thirst for water, but for hearing the Words of Yahweh.
Bread without scarcity. Devarim / Deu 8:9 Elohim is bringing you into a land in which you eat bread without scarcity, in which you do not lack at all. Tehillim / Ps 37:25 I have been young, and now I am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Or his seed begging bread.
Bread to strangers. Devarim / Deu 10:18 "He executes right-ruling for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and a garment. Mishleh / Pro 22:9 He who has a good eye is blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor.
Bread of toil. Tehillim / Ps 127:2 In vain do you rise up early, To sit up late, to eat the bread of toil; So He gives His beloved sleep.
Bread of wrongdoing. Mishleh / Pro 4:17 For they have eaten the bread of wrongdoing, And they drink the wine of violence. Mishleh / Pro 20:17 Bread gained by deceit might be sweet to a man, But afterward his mouth is filled with gravel.
Bread of desire. Mishleh / Pro 23:6-7 Do not eat the bread of one having an evil eye, Nor desire his delicacies … "Eat and drink!" he says to you, But his heart is not with you.
Bread to the enemy. Mishleh / Pro 25:21-22 If your enemy is hungry give him bread to eat, And if he is thirsty give him water to drink, for you are heaping coals of fire on his head, And Yahweh rewards you.
Bread of contentment. Mishleh / Pro 30:7-9 Two matters I have asked of You … Remove falsehood and a lying word far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me my portion of bread; lest I become satisfied and deny You. Mat 6:11 ‘Give us today our daily bread.
Bread on the waters. Kohelet / Eccl 11:1 Send out your bread on the face of the waters, for after many days you shall find it.
Bread of adversity. YeshaYahu / Isa 30:20-21 Though Yahweh gave you bread of adversity and water of affliction, your Teacher shall no longer be hidden. But your eyes shall see your Teacher. and your ears hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the Way, walk in it," whenever you turn to the right, or whenever you turn to the left.
Bread that does not satisfy. YeshaYahu / Isa 55:2 "Why do you weigh out silver for what is not bread, and your labour for what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to Me, and eat what is good, and let your being delight itself in fatness.
Bread to those who ask. Mat 7:7-9 "Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened. Or is there a man among you who, if his son asks for bread, shall give him a stone?
Bread of the children. Mat 15:26-27 And He answering, said, "It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs." But she said, "Yea Master, for even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
