WHO ARE WE AND WHAT DO WE BELIEVE? (7)

We shall conclude our investigation into the nature and extent of our belief with the question: What will Yahweh do in the future? Believing is not only about what happened in the past and what is valid in the present – it is also about what is to be expected in the future. A large portion of the Pre-Messianic and Messianic Scriptures is of a prophetic nature and is aimed at preparing the people of Yahweh for the unknown future. The proper way to read these portions (about the future) is to recognise their truth and importance within the context of the Word of Yahweh and to convert these truths into vibrant declarations of belief. Scriptural statements about the future were not given merely as something to take note of or to lock away in closets of theological knowledge. On the contrary, they were given to be meditated upon, to be believed, to serve as a foundation for one’s hope for the future, to be used as a means to comfort and strengthen one another and to be passed on from one generation to another. Let us proceed to identify some of the more important things that we know are part of what Yahweh will do in the time to come – based on clear and undeniable indicators, both in Pre-Messianic and Messianic Scriptures.

  1. Yahweh will protect, strengthen and provide for his chosen ones in a world that will degenerate progressively towards the end and oppose everything and everyone that is connected with the truth.
  2. YermeYahu / Jeremiah 23:3-4 Therefore I shall gather the remnant of My flock out of all the lands where I have driven them, and shall bring them back to their fold. And they shall bear and increase. And I shall raise up shepherds over them, and they shall feed them. And they shall fear no more, nor be discouraged, nor shall they be lacking," declares Yahweh.

1 Tim 4:1 But the Spirit distinctly says that in latter times some shall fall away from the belief, paying attention to misleading spirits, and teachings of demons.

Rev 3:10 Because you have guarded My Word of endurance, I also shall guard you from the hour of trial which shall come upon all the world, to try those who dwell on the earth.

  3. Yahweh will increase the knowledge of the good news of salvation on a world-wide scale – even to those outside the "house of Yehudah" and unto the uttermost ends of the earth, including all tongues and tribes and nations.
  4. ZecharYah / Zechariah 2:11 And many gentiles shall be joined to Yahweh in that day, and they shall become My people. And I shall dwell in your midst.

Matt 24:14 And this Good News of the reign shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come.

Rev 5:9 And they sang a renewed song, saying, "You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals, because You were slain, and have redeemed us to Elohim by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

  5. Yahweh will send his Son, Y'shua the Messiah, to complete the final and decisive stage of the redemption of his set-apart bride, resulting in the resurrection of those who died in Messiah and the unification of all true believers with their Master.
  6. YeshaYahu / Isaiah 25:9 And it shall be said in that day, "See, this is our Elohim. We have waited for Him, and He saves us. This is Yahweh, we have waited for Him, let us be glad and rejoice in His deliverance."

Matt 24:30 And then the sign of the Son of Adam shall appear in the heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Adam coming on the clouds of the heaven with power and much esteem.

1 Thes 4:16-17 Because the Master Himself shall come down from heaven with a shout, with the voice of a chief messenger, and with the trumpet of Elohim, and the dead in Messiah shall rise first. Then we, the living who are left over, shall be caught away together with them in the clouds to meet the Master in the air – and so we shall always be with the Master.

  7. Yahweh will pour out his wrath upon the earth and its non-believing inhabitants and its Yahweh-opposing structures, through a series of events described as "the day of Yahweh, great and very awesome" and "a day of distress and trouble".
  8. Yahuél / Joel 2:11 And Yahweh shall give forth His voice before His army, for His camp is very great, for mighty is the doer of His word. For the day of Yahweh is great and very awesome, and who does bear it?

TsephanYah / Zephaniah 1:15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of distress and trouble, a day of waste and ruin, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness.

Rev 6:16-17 Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him sitting on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, because the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?

  9. Yahweh will introduce a period ("a thousand years") of peace and prosperity upon the earth, restoring age old principles and practices of righteousness and truth in what is often described as "the kingdom of Heaven" or "the everlasting kingdom".
  10. YeshaYahu / Isaiah 2:2-3 And it shall be in the latter days that the mountain of the House of Yahweh is established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills. And all nations shall flow to it. And many peoples shall come and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the House of the Elohim of Yaaqov, and let Him teach us His ways, and let us walk in His paths, for out of Tsiyon comes forth the Torah, and the Word of Yahweh from Yerushalayim.

Daniel 7:14 And to Him was given rulership and preciousness and a reign, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His rule is an everlasting rule which shall not pass away, and His reign that which shall not be destroyed.

Rev 20:2-3 And he seized the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and he threw him into the pit of the deep, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should lead the nations no more astray until the thousand years were ended.

  11. Yahweh will execute judgement on all human beings, based upon their works (and therefore also upon their belief) and recorded in the Book of life, resulting in eternal destruction for some and everlasting life for others.
  12. YermeYahu / Jeremiah 17:10 I, Yahweh, search the heart, I try the kidneys, and give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.

Matt 16:27 For the Son of Adam is going to come in the esteem of His Father with His messengers, and then He shall reward each according to his works.

Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before the throne, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged from what was written in the books, according to their works.

  13. Yahweh will reveal the new heaven and the new earth at the appointed time, where death and tears and darkness and sin and separation will no more be found and Yahweh, in his splendour and his majesty, will be all in all.

YeshaYahu / Isaiah 65:17 For look, I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and the former shall not be remembered, nor come to heart.

YeshaYahu / Isaiah 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make stand before Me," declares Yahweh, "so your seed and your name shall stand.

Rev 21:1 And I saw a renewed heaven and a renewed earth, for the former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea is no more.
